William "Bill" West age 92, of Perry died on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center - West Lakes in West Des Moines. According to Bill's wishes no funeral services will be held. Visitation will be Monday, June 28, 2010 from 9:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry at a later date. Memorials may be given to his family and may be left at the Funeral Home. The family will establish a memorial later.

William "Bill" Clayton West was born on September 8, 1917 at Perry, IA to Clayton and Hazel (McLuen) West. He graduated from Perry Community High School in 1936. Following graduation he served in the United States Army in the Phillipines during WW II. Bill worked as a butcher in Perry prior to owning Bill's Barber Shop in Perry for many years. Before his retirement he worked at the Woodward State Hospital warehouse. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Jones in Perry, IA.

Bill was a 62 year member of the Perry Elks Lodge, a member of Perry Golf and Country Club for several years and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf until the age of 87. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by wife, Bonnie, and parents, Clayton and Hazel West.

Survivors include his daughters, Lorali Fagen (Cliff) of Perry, IA, and Sonya Rhoades of Queen Creek, AZ, 5 grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Stephenson of Winterset, IA, Jolisa (JC) Diaz of Waukee, IA, Scott (Shannon) Rhoades of Golden, CO, Stephany Rhoades, Queen Creek, AZ, and Ryan Rhoades (Chrissy) of Des Moines, IA, and 8 great grandchildren.
