Cora Gittins age 74, of Perry died on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center. Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 at Carris Family Funeral Home. Graveside service will be on Monday June 7, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Cora Josephine Gittins was born on June 30, 1935 at Berkley, IA to Elmer and Ruth (Williams) Tingwald. She attended grade school at Berkley and Rippey High School. Cora married Richard Lugene Gittins on October 11, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Perry, IA. Together they farmed until retirement in 1999. She has been residing at the Panora Nursing and Rehab Center in Panora, IA since 2008.

Cora was a member of the First Christian Church since August 30, 1953. She helped with Youth Group and taught Sunday School.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruth Tingwald, 2 daughters, Margaret Gittins on November 6, 1986 and Nancy in infancy, 2 sisters, Katherine Sheeder and Bernice Blackburn, and 2 brothers, Robert "Bill" and Raymond Tingwald.

Survivors include her husband Richard Gittins, of Perry, IA, granddaughter Tammi Sherman, of Perry, IA, 4 great grandchildren, Rebecca, Sage, Kayaann and Calli Sherman and several nieces and nephews.
