Donald Raymond Jones age 82, of Rippey died on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2010 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cooper Cemetery at Cooper, IA. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Donald Raymond Jones was born on April 17, 1927 at Rippey, IA to Emerson and Tillie (Curry) Jones. He attended school in Cooper, IA and Ogden, IA. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Donald owned and operated the DX gas station in Ogden, then worked for Northern Natural Gas, and finally he worked for Oscar Mayer until he retired in 1985. He loved going to auctions and antique shows and after his retirement operated his own antique stores. He married Sharilyn Irene McAllister on June, 18, 1982 at Deadwood, SD.

Donald loved raising cows, fishing and hunting when he was able and collecting tractors. He especially enjoyed the outdoors and was very knowledgeable about nature. He was a member of the Rippey Masonic Lodge, Rippey American Legion and the Madrid VFW.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents Emerson and Tillie Jones, a daughter, Kathy Shadle, 3 sisters, Thelma John, Dorothy Miller and Lola Miller and a brother, Clarence Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Jones of Rippey, IA, children, Shawn Jones and fiancé Kathleen Sleeth of Rippey, IA, April Jones of Cherokee, IA, Brian Jones of Des Moines, IA, Diane Liebli of Burlington, IA, 11 grandchildren, a sister, Leta Poindexter of Winston Salem, NC and many nieces and nephews.
