
Donavin Norem age 79, of Perry died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Panora Nursing and Rehab Center in Panora. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home.
Donavin Orland Norem was born on October 22, 1930 at Radcliffe, IA to Clarence and Edith (Johnson) Norem. He attended Country School by Radcliffe, IA. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Donavin worked for as a commercial carpenter in Des Moines, IA and then moved to Dallas Texas, where he later was a manager of a tire shop in Irving, TX, and then at Ajax Sign Company. He married Toodie Morman on February 4, 1956 at Alden, IA.
Donavin was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the building and finance committee before moving to Dallas. He enjoyed fishing, but his grandchildren were his biggest
priority and loved going to their soft ball and base ball games.
Donavin was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edith Norem a daughter, Jan Hutchins, granddaughter, April Simmons, great granddaughter, Addison Elizabeth Simmons, and brothers, Edwin and
Ken Norem.
Survivors include his wife, Toodie Norem of Perry, IA, daughter, JoEllen Hunter (Jack) of Yale, IA, son-in-law, Craig Hutchins of Naperville, IL, grandchildren, Juan Ramirez of Naperville, IL, Jerrod
Ramirez of Clarendon Hills, IL, Ryan Wilson of Perry, IA, and Courtney Wilson of Johnston, IA, great grandchildren, Peyton Ramirez and Riley Clark, a brother, Carol Norem (Ruth) of Iowa Falls, IA,
and many nieces and nephews.
