Gladys Holmstrom age 99 years, 11 months and 26 days, of Perry and formerly of Boone and Ames, died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Perry Health Care in Perry. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan, IA. Memorials may be given to Perry Health Care Center for a bird bath and falls and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Gladys V. Holmstrom was born on October 30, 1909 at Elk Creek, MO to Joesiah Reasor and Luella (Biddlecome) Roberts. She graduated from Cabool, MO High School in 1926. Following graduation she taught country school for 2 years at Victor School at Elk Creek, MO. She moved to Iowa in the early 1930's. She married Victor Holmstrom in June 16, 1945 in Washington, D.C. She was a graduate of A.I.B. in Des Moines and then was employed with Iowa Department of Transportation as a Book Keeper for 43 years.

Gladys was a devout Christian. She loved to crochet and knit, creating many beautiful things.

Gladys was preceded in death by husband, Victor in 1990, parents, Joesiah and Luella, brothers, Willis, Willard and Carl Roberts, and sisters, Alma Fackler, and Lucille Higbee.

Survivors include a special niece, Ollie Rathje of Perry, IA and many other nieces and nephews.
