Lorraine McCarty age 84, of Perry died on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be given to St. Pat's Foundation or Mercy Hospital Foundation and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Lorraine Georgia McCarty was born on November 13, 1924 in Perry, IA to Lewis and Elsie (Corsaut) Honomichl. She graduated from Perry High School in 1943. She worked in Washington D.C. for the FBI from 1945 to 1947. She then returned to Perry, working as a dental assistant. On January 28, 1948 she married Howard McCarty and they farmed outside of Perry. Lorraine and Howard became the parents of 2 lovely daughters, Sharon and Karen.

Lorraine was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Regina Guild. She loved taking care of her family and cooking for them. She enjoyed creating oil paintings and growing house plants.  Lorraine was a breast cancer survivor.

Lorraine was preceded in death by parents, Elsie and Lewis Honomichl, a brother, Lewis Jr. Honomichl, a sister, Ruth Margaret Williams, and a son-in-law, Howard Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Howard McCarty, Perry, IA, daughters, Sharon Larwick (Ken) Ames, IA, Karen Wright of Minburn, a sister, Elsie Johnson of Southbury, CT, grandchildren, Bret (Amy) Larwick of Ames, IA, Mark (Charmaine) Larwick of Dallas, TX, and great grandchildren, Ian and Evan Larwick of Ames, IA.
