Rick Sable, age 51, of Perry died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry at a later date. Memorials will be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Richard Dean Sable was born on November 18, 1958 in Perry, IA to Walter and Lillian (Mickelson) Sable. He graduated from Perry Community High School in 1977 and then graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Rick worked for the University of Iowa Hygienic Lab in Ankeny, IA as a Chemist for 20 years.

Rick enjoyed fishing, oil painting, and was very good at cooking and baking. He loved his dog Ozzy.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Walter Sable.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian of Perry, IA sisters, Karen (Ken) Benhart of West Des Moines, IA, Shirley (Dave) Lester of Polk City, IA, Linda (John) Wuebker of Perry, IA, and Ruth Myers (Randy) of Woodward, IA, brothers, William Sable (Judy) of Fremont, CA, Frank Sable (Jean) of Urbandale, IA, and John Sable (Claudia) of Wagoner, OK, 13 nieces and nephews, and 3 great nieces and nephews.
