Ruth Kalen age 92, of Perry died on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials may be given to the family and can be left at the Funeral Home.

 

Ruth Mildred Kalen was born on August 17, 1917 at Coburg, MT to Raymond George and Marguerite (Bowerman) McCann. She attended school at Coburg until age 17 when she moved to Perry and graduated from Perry Community High School with the class of 1937. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener, especially African Violets.+


Ruth was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Marguerite McCann, spouses, Donald Phillips and Ted Kalen, brothers, Tom, George and Jack McCann and a sister, Erdyne Laborde.


Survivors include her daughter Sharon Phillips of Des Moines, IA, several nieces and nephews, locally by Robert and Mary Laborde of Perry, IA and Kay and Raynold Johnson of Woodward, IA.
